The Telangana government has announced its resolve to complete a resurvey of lands across the State within one-and-a-half years.
It has decided to appoint 14 officials — two each for the seven zones — drawn from the Revenue and Survey departments for constant supervision of the resurvey to ensure that there is no compromise on the quality of the process. The officers are expected to constantly monitor the process and make recommendations to suit the needs from time-to-time.
The pilot project launched to conduct a survey in a few villages that do not figure in the revenue maps will be completed by the end. Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reviewed the department’s preparedness to take up the resurvey for the first time in almost 125 years to ensure that Telangana becomes a land dispute-free State. The meeting discussed the modalities to be adopted to make the resurvey effective and transparent.
In addition to speed and efficiency, focus would be on constant monitoring of the survey works so that there was no scope for any shortcomings. Officials concerned should conduct the process with utmost responsibility as it envisaged permanent resolution to land disputes.
It was decided to conduct the resurvey in at least two villages in each mandal. Two survey teams would comprise a licensed surveyor, gram panchayat officer, deputy tehsildar or revenue inspector and other staff.
Officials had been instructed to get feedback relating to the number of survey numbers covered, any problems during the exercise, villages where the work was being done and other details on a daily basis.
The department on its part would set up an exclusive dashboard to record the details of village-wise progress of the survey on a daily basis. Information relating to the survey teams, their location and usage of specialised rovers would also be incorporated in realtime in the dashboard.
The government had kept the funds ready for the resurvey and was prepared to release more for the purchase of additional rovers if needed. The Minister warned against the collection of money from people in the name of the survey asserting that stringent action would be initiated against those found guilty of inconveniencing the people.
