AMCA bid deadline extended by two months to October 30

The deadline for Indian defence majors to submit bids for the development of the indigenous fifth-generation fighter jet, Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), has been extended by two months to October 30, 2026, from the earlier deadline of August 27, defence officials said.

A document accessed by The Hindu shows that the bids for the mega fighter aircraft project will now be opened on October 31, a day after the revised submission deadline. The earlier schedule envisaged opening the bids on August 28.

The Aeronautical Development Agency issued a corrigendum on Thursday (August 27, 2026) extending the deadline after prospective bidders sought additional time to prepare and submit their proposals.

The bidders include the Larsen & Toubro-Bharat Electronics Limited combine, Tata Advanced Systems, and Bharat Forge in partnership with BEML.

Under the revised schedule, bids will have to be submitted by 3 p.m. on October 30, replacing the earlier 3 p.m. deadline on August 27, the document reads.

The AMCA programme is aimed at developing India’s first indigenous fifth-generation fighter aircraft, with advanced stealth, sensor fusion and network-centric warfare capabilities.
