YSRCP accuses govt. of blocking its social media accounts

The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has accused the government of attempting to silence criticism over the DSC teacher recruitment process by blocking the social media accounts of the party, its supporters and other critics.

YSRCP spokesperson Putta Siva Shankar, speaking to the media at Tadepalli on Sunday, alleged that the action followed the party’s campaign highlighting the alleged discrepancies in the DSC recruitment process.

He cited the alleged appointment of a candidate without appearing for the TET, deviations from reservation norms and issues relating to sports quota as matters that generated public debate.

Mr. Siva Shankar alleged that as criticism intensified, the State Cyber Crime Wing approached Meta, resulting in restrictions on social media accounts associated with the YSRCP, its supporters, and a media house.

He said the restrictions would not deter the party from pursuing the DSC issue and taking its campaign to other platforms. The party would also approach Meta seeking restoration of the affected accounts, he said.

Mr. Siva Shankar said the YSRCP would extend legal assistance to its supporters and social media influencers, whose accounts had been blocked.
