Yash says, “Never take cinema seriously” amid Toxic criticism
Yash recently addressed criticism surrounding the bold content of his upcoming film Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups during a promotional event at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad. Speaking to a large gathering of students, the actor urged them not to take cinema too seriously and instead focus on their own ambitions and efforts.
Responding to the criticism directed towards Toxic, Yash said, “Never take cinema seriously. We haven’t achieved anything special. Whatever you want to do in life, dream it and work towards it. You will get respect and success. If we fail in something, don’t blame the world. Only we are responsible.”
Yash’s comments came as he and the team promoted Toxic at the Hyderabad University. The actor’s message shifted the focus from the criticism surrounding the film to the importance of taking responsibility for one’s own choices and working towards one’s goals.
The promotional event, however, was briefly disrupted by an accident. A loud sound box setup reportedly fell into the crowd while Yash was addressing the students. Two students were reportedly injured in the incident.
Yash immediately noticed the situation and asked the organisers and security personnel to check on those affected. “Are they okay? Please check,” he said from the stage. Police personnel present at the venue also stepped in and rushed the two injured students to a nearby hospital for treatment. Before continuing with the promotional event, Yash also checked on the audience and asked, “Is everyone okay? Is everyone safe?” He waited for a response from the crowd before proceeding.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations LLP. The film stars Yash in a dual role, alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
The gangster film is among Yash’s most anticipated upcoming projects and is expected to hit cinemas this week, on August 26.
