Vikrant Massey reveals his dream role of playing a sportsman on screen; says, “I would love to play Rahul Dravid”
National Award-winning actor Vikrant Massey has revealed that he would like to portray former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid on screen. Known for taking on varied roles across genres, the actor also expressed his interest in playing a musician who can sing and play an instrument.
Massey has explored different aspects of filmmaking through his acting projects and has recently ventured into production with Musafir Cafe. The project has allowed him to take on responsibilities beyond acting and participate in the creative process of developing a story.
Despite having portrayed a range of characters, the actor continues to have several roles on his wishlist. Sharing the kind of characters he hopes to explore in the future, Massey said, “I think I would love to play a sportsman. I would love to play Rahul Dravid. I would also love to play a musician who can sing, who can play an instrument.”
His interest in portraying Rahul Dravid points towards a possible sports-based role in the future, while his wish to play a musician reflects his interest in exploring a different creative space. However, the actor has not announced any project based on either of these aspirations.
Massey also spoke about his decision to venture into production with Musafir Cafe and explained that he wanted to explore storytelling beyond his responsibilities as an actor. Sharing his approach, he said, “I was looking for scripts to produce, not necessarily act in. I wanted to go beyond acting responsibilities, just get involved in the entire creative process of developing a script,” he says.
Reflecting on the project’s writing and his collaboration with Sharanya, Massey added, “I knew we had a very good show on our hands even before we started filming, because of the depth of Sharanya’s writing. I think we complemented each other as creative artists; both of us very strongly feel that less is more,” he says.
Massey’s interest in portraying real-life personalities has also brought attention to the possibility of him taking on another biographical role. For now, his wish to play Rahul Dravid remains an aspiration, with audiences waiting to see which characters he chooses to explore next.
On the work front, Massey will next be seen in White, adding another project to his filmography.
