Ramayana Worldwide Box Office Day 2: Ranbir Kapoor–Yash starrer crosses Rs. 215 CRORES globally
Ramayana – Part I, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, has crossed the Rs. 200 crore milestone at the worldwide box office within just two days of its release. The much-awaited mythological epic, which arrived in cinemas on Thursday, November 5, has amassed a reported Rs. 215.73 crores gross globally, driven by substantial contributions from both India and international markets. However, a closer examination of the day-wise collections reveals an interesting trend, with the film witnessing a decline on Friday despite entering the conventional weekend.

The film began its worldwide journey with a massive Rs. 125.10 crores gross on Thursday. Of this, Rs. 75.26 crores came from the Indian market, while overseas territories contributed an impressive Rs. 49.84 crores. On Friday, the film collected Rs. 90.21 crores gross worldwide, marking a decline of 27.89% from its opening day. While the second-day collections remain enormous in absolute terms, the drop is noteworthy considering that Friday traditionally marks the beginning of the weekend in several major international markets.
Overseas markets contribute nearly 40% of worldwide business
One of the biggest takeaways from Ramayana‘s worldwide performance is the significant contribution from international markets. According to the cumulative figures, the film has generated Rs. 85.24 crores gross overseas, accounting for approximately 39.51% of its worldwide business. India, meanwhile, has contributed Rs. 130.49 crores gross, representing the remaining 60.49%. This means that for every Rs. 100 generated globally, almost Rs. 40 has come from overseas markets.
The international contribution is particularly significant because it demonstrates the importance of overseas territories to the film’s commercial performance. With its ambitious scale, familiar mythology and star-studded cast, Ramayana has attracted substantial opening business beyond India. However, the day-wise trend also deserves attention.
Friday slowdown is visible in India and overseas
In India, Ramayana opened at Rs. 62.47 crores nett (Rs. 75.26 crores gross) on Thursday. On Friday, collections declined to Rs. 45.84 crores nett (Rs. 55.23 crores gross), registering a drop of approximately 26.62% in nett business. The overseas market witnessed a similar, and slightly sharper, decline.
International collections stood at Rs. 49.84 crores gross on Thursday before falling to Rs. 34.98 crores gross on Friday, representing a decline of 29.82%.
The fact that both domestic and international collections declined indicates that the slowdown was not restricted to a particular geographical market. Instead, the film witnessed a broad-based reduction in daily business following its enormous opening.
However, the Thursday release must be considered while interpreting these figures. The opening day would have benefited from the initial rush of advance bookings and audiences eager to catch the film at the earliest opportunity. The subsequent Friday decline could partly reflect this front-loading of demand.

Whether the film can generate fresh momentum over Saturday and Sunday will offer a clearer indication of its audience acceptance.
Rs. 200 crores worldwide in two days, but momentum matters
Crossing Rs. 200 crores worldwide within two days is a major commercial achievement. However, for an event film such as Ramayana, the scale of the opening is only one part of the story. The more important question is whether the film can sustain its collections beyond the initial rush. A noteworthy aspect of the worldwide performance is that the overseas market has contributed a substantial share of the film’s total revenue. This provides Ramayana with an additional source of box office strength, especially as the film attempts to build momentum across the extended weekend. At the same time, the nearly 28% worldwide decline on Friday demonstrates that an enormous opening does not automatically guarantee an equally strong trajectory.
Saturday and Sunday hold the key
Having released on Thursday, Ramayana has the advantage of an extended four-day opening weekend. Saturday and Sunday will therefore be crucial in determining the film’s initial box office trajectory.
The big story is that Ramayana has crossed Rs. 200 crores worldwide in just two days, the real test of its box office strength is only beginning.
