NIT Calicut 22nd convocation: Record 2,128 graduates to receive degrees on August 29

The National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT- Calicut) will confer degrees on a record-breaking 2,128 students during its 22nd convocation to be held on its campus on Saturday (August 29, 2026).

This marks the largest graduating class in the institution’s history.

The graduating batch comprises 1,162 B.Tech, 575 M.Tech, 130 PhD, 102 M.Sc, 76 MBA, 65 B.Arch, and 18 M.Plan students.

​Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director and Chairman of the Senate, will preside over the event, presenting the institutional report. Santhosh Kumar, president and managing director of Texas Instruments India, will deliver the main address along with guest of honour Mathew P. Tharaniyil, president of US-based Bloom Companies.

​The ceremony will recognise top academic achievers across undergraduate programmes. B.Tech Computer Science student Nandana Anand secured the prestigious Er. M.L. Bapna Gold Medal and the Prof. Allesu Kanjirathinkal Memorial Award after topping the undergraduate batch.

Other undergraduate branch toppers receiving gold medals include Hannah Rachel Mathew (B.Arch), Gowri Chandhana. N (Biotechnology), Vemana Chandra Sekhar (Chemical), Akash Verma (Civil), Kattamuri Charukesh (EEE), Panthula Divith Reddy (ECE), Mohamad Rayes (Materials Science), G. Niranjana (Mechanical), Prarabdha Chatterjee (Production), and Slomo John Joshi (Engineering Physics).

​A total of 34 gold medals will be awarded across postgraduate specialisations, led by Hemachandran. V (M.Tech Electrical Engineering – Instrumentation and Control Systems), who clinched the overall postgraduate Er. M.L. Bapna Gold Medal.
