Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Bindhu Krishna has said that Milma products are manufactured under stringent quality control processes and that “recent negative reports” about the Milk cooperative were unfounded.
“Some recent negative reports about Milma were unfounded. I personally went and verified the matter and found that all these rumours about Milma have no basis. All Milma products are manufactured under stringent quality-control processes, with multiple tests conducted to ensure that consumers get authentic and healthy products,” Milma quoted the Minister as saying in a statement.
Ms. Krishna’s remarks, an apparent reference to the recent controversy over Milma’s ghee supplies to the Sabarimala temple, came during the launch of four new products of Milma’s Thiruvananthapuram Regional Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (TRCMPU) here on Saturday; Milma Paneer Pops in Peri-Peri and Chettinad flavours, and Milma Sweetened Yogurt and Milma Blueberry-Flavoured Yogurt.
The Minister urged consumers not to give in to the adverse propaganda spread by vested interests targeting Milma.
The Minister launched the products with film actor Meenakshi Anoop at an event here on Saturday. The launch was part of Milma’s efforts to diversify its product range to meet consumer demand. From a primarily milk and curd producer, Milma has come a long way, winning the trust of Keralites with its range of value-added products tailored to changing consumer trends, the Minister said.
Paneer Pops is made with Milma paneer combined with a special blend of spices and crispy bread crumbs. Available in frozen form, this ready-to-cook product is ideal as an evening snack. The new yogurt products: Milma Sweetened Yogurt and Milma Blueberry-flavoured Yogurt, are suitable for both children and adults, Milma said.
TRCMPU administrator Sinila Unnikrishnan, managing director Rararaj R., Ernakulam Regional Cooperative Milk Producers Union chairman C.N.Valsalan Pillai, and Dairy Development Department director Shalini Gopinath , were present. The Minister also unveiled an ‘Ona Kazhcha’ product kit on the occasion.
