Moody’s raises India’s GDP forecast to 7 per cent for FY27

Noting Indian economy’s resilience to global uncertainties amid West Asia crisis, global ratings agency Moody’s on Friday raised the country’s GDP growth forecast to 7 per cent for the current fiscal year from 6 per cent projected earlier, according to news agency PTI.

Moody’s said India’s real GDP growth rose to 8.2 per cent year-on-year in the first half of calendar year (CY) 2026, as against the 7.3 per cent for entire CY 2025. The faster growth was driven by stronger consumer spending, continued investment in public infrastructure, and a possible revival of private sector investment, while the services sector remained strong.
