Maatrubhumi trailer launch: Salman Khan says it’s a RARE film to not show the other side in negative light: “I don’t think China will see the film and say, ‘Salman Khan ne picture banayi yahaan par. Attack karo India par!’”
Salman Khan, Chitrangda Singh, Ankur Bhatia, Heera Sohal, Dayashankar Pandey, Jason Tham, Abhilash Chaudhary, Vipin Bhardwaj, Samar Gill, Tenzin Bodh, Tanya Desai, Zeyn Shaw, Abhishrri Sen, music director duo Meet Bros, lyricist Shahid Mir, co-writer Chintan Shah attended the trailer launch of Maatrubhumi at a multiplex in Mumbai. They were also joined by Azai Ahluwalia and Ivarr Ahluwalia, the sons of Shabbir Ahluwalia and Kanchi Kaul, who make their debut in the film as child artists. Salman Khan was in his element at the launch and made some clarifications.
Salman was asked if Maatrubhumi is a biopic. He replied, “Maatrubhumi bilkul bhi biopic nahin hai. My father said a line to me, ‘In war, if a bullet reaches its target, it also reaches a mother’s heart’. Mujhe woh nahin karna tha. I wanted a film which focuses on man-on-man haatha paai. That’s it. It’s about the Chinese and us. Toh uske oopar se aisa laga ki hamara yeh jo narrative hoga, yeh thoda sa relationship bigaad dega. I don’t feel that if Salman Khan makes a film, the Chinese would see that film and say, ‘Salman Khan ne picture banayi yahaan par. Attack karo India par’! Or take an opposite instance. India won’t say, ‘Jackie Chan ne picture banayi hain. Let’s go and attack China’.”
He added, “Until now, all the war films that have been made have always shown the other side in a negative light. Pick any film of India or America. However, they are soldiers who are fighting for their country. They have been given orders. When those orders are not given, baat cheet ho jaati hai sab ki. But when it comes to the nation, they’ll go all out.”
Maatrubhumi releases in cinemas on December 4.
