Hotstar Specials’ Koffee with Karan Season 9, the chat show’s final season, has opened to a strong response, trending at No. 1 on JioHotstar across India, the UK, Canada and Singapore. The premiere also generated conversations on social media, with discussions trending in the entertainment category on X and Instagram seeing reaction reels, reviews and audience responses to the episode.
The season opened with Salman Khan as the sole guest on the couch, marking a departure from the show’s usual format. During the conversation, the actor spoke candidly about his personal life, revealing that he hopes to have children someday and explaining why he prefers to keep certain aspects of his life private. He also spoke about sharing his bedroom with a mysterious, other-worldly “presence.”
Salman further recalled offering to appear in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai without charging a fee because of his affection for Yash Johar, who treated him like a son.

One of the episode’s key moments came with the surprise appearance of Karisma Kapoor, Salman’s friend and co-star in more than 10 films. She joined the show to host the rapid-fire round, prompting a series of light-hearted exchanges between the two. Salman jokingly referred to Karisma as his “longest living affair” and recalled a prank from their shooting days that had once left her in tears. Their on-screen interaction also prompted viewers to call for a reunion between the two actors, while the episode brought back memories of their films from the 1990s.

Season 9 also marks a first for the streaming platform’s partnership with NBCUniversal. The show is The Peacock Hub’s first Indian collaboration and the first time NBCUniversal and JioHotstar have partnered on a homegrown show.
