Khaleel Ahmed’s CSK post amid IPL 2027 trade rumours

Left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed has entered the IPL 2027 trade conversation through an Instagram reel, with a clip showing him in a T-shirt bearing the words ‘CSK for life’ and ‘Yellove,’ the latter being the long-running slogan associated with the Chennai Super Kings fanbase. A yellow heart emoji in the caption completed the message, leaving little ambiguity about the position he wanted to project publicly.

The reel surfaced after former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin addressed the trade speculation, claiming that Khaleel had previously sought to leave the franchise. That claim has not been verified by any official source and rests solely on Ashwin’s statement.

“Khaleel had already asked CSK to release him last year. Not sure if you remember this. Khaleel wanted to go last year. There were talks that Khaleel wanted to be let go off,” Ashwin said, speaking on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin’s claim and the Pandya trade angle

Khaleel’s IPL 2026 season lasted only five matches before injury ended his participation. CSK, meanwhile, missed the playoffs for a third consecutive season in IPL 2026, a result that has intensified discussion about possible squad changes ahead of the next cycle. Reports attributed to Hindustan Times had suggested CSK offered Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis and Rs 10 crore in cash to MI for Hardik Pandya, though both franchises subsequently denied any involvement in such talks. Ashwin also addressed the broader trade speculation linking Khaleel to Mumbai Indians as part of a possible Pandya deal.

“If Mumbai Indians want Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed and Shivam Dube, then CSK’s Indian bowling core is gone,” Ashwin said.

CSK’s IPL 2026 struggles and what comes next

Pandya had a difficult IPL 2026 campaign with Mumbai Indians, scoring 206 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of 138.25 and taking only four wickets. MI finished ninth in the standings with four wins from 14 league matches and were officially eliminated from playoff contention following a last-ball, two-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur.

As of now, neither CSK nor Khaleel has confirmed any trade arrangement, and the franchise’s retention and release decisions for IPL 2027 remain unannounced. The Instagram reel stands as Khaleel’s only public response to the speculation so far.
