MUMBAI: Homegrown private equity (PE) firm Kedaara Capital has invested $200 million in Mohali-based Tynor Orthotics as it looks to take a share of India’s fast-growing medical devices sector. Tynor Orthotics makes a range of orthopaedic supports, mobility aids and rehabilitation solutions. The companies did not disclose the specifics of the transaction but it is understood that Kedaara Capital has picked up a majority stake as part of the funding deal which will also give an exit to Tynor Orthotics’ existing investor Lighthouse Funds. In a statement, Kedaara Capital said that it will work with the promoters of the company and its early backer Thuasne to expand the brand’s footprint across local and international markets. The strategy will be to build an ortho-focused wellness platform. “India’s medical devices sector is among the fastest-growing in the world, and Tynor represents a rare opportunity to partner with a clear category leader in orthopaedic supports and rehabilitation,” said Sunish Sharma, founder & managing partner, Kedaara Capital.Founded in 1993, Tynor today reaches over 300,000 retail outlets and 8,000 hospitals across 60 countries. Kedaara Capital, which has built a local portfolio across consumer, healthcare, tech services and financial services, had raised a $1.7 billion fund in 2024, among the biggest by a domestic PE firm. It has backed companies including Lenskart, Juspay and Axis Finance. PE deal activity has gathered pace of late—recently, KKR bought a minority stake in BookMyShow.
