Invest Qatar Expands India Outreach Opens Dedicated Office to Boost Bilateral Investment and Business Partnerships

MUMBAI, July 28 : Invest Qatar, the national investment promotion agency of the State of Qatar, has strengthened its engagement with Indian businesses by launching a dedicated office in India.

It has held a series of high-level meetings aimed at expanding bilateral investment cooperation and encouraging Indian companies to use Qatar as a gateway to the GCC and Middle East and North Africa region, a release stated.

A week-long visit by a delegation was led by Abdulla Al-Emadi, Acting Head of Lead Generation for Asia Markets at Invest Qatar, who travelled to New Delhi and Mumbai to engage with Indian corporates, entrepreneurs, investors and technology companies. The discussions focused on strengthening long-term business partnerships, exploring fresh investment opportunities and supporting the growing network of more than 25,000 Indian businesses already operating in Qatar.

During the visit, Al-Emadi held meetings with representatives of Tata Consultancy Services, Fractal Analytics Limited, Rossari Biotech, Vilin Bio Med, TiE Mumbai, technology start-ups, scale-up companies and investors to explore new avenues for enhancing investment collaboration between India and Qatar.

A major announcement during the visit was the opening of Invest Qatar’s first dedicated office in India. The agency said the move reflects its long-term commitment to the Indian market and underlines India’s importance as one of its key strategic markets in Asia.

The India office will be headed by Tanaz Buhariwalla as Director for India. According to Invest Qatar, the office will provide direct support to Indian companies planning to establish or expand operations in Qatar by assisting with market entry, regulatory procedures, investment facilitation and post-investment support services.

Commenting on the visit, Abdulla Al-Emadi said India remains one of Invest Qatar’s most significant strategic markets and the opening of a permanent office demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to building deeper and more enduring business relationships with Indian companies, investors and institutions.

He said the objective of establishing a local presence is to work more closely with businesses shaping India’s economic growth and make it easier for them to evaluate investment opportunities available in Qatar.

Al-Emadi said discussions with Tata Consultancy Services, Fractal Analytics, Vilin Bio Med, Rossari Biotech and members of India’s technology and innovation ecosystem indicated strong interest among Indian enterprises in using Qatar as a regional base for expanding into the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the wider Middle East and North Africa region.

He added that Invest Qatar intends to build on the momentum generated during the visit by strengthening engagement with Indian businesses in the coming months.

The investment mission comes at a time when Qatar continues to attract strong investor interest because of its strategic location, modern infrastructure and international connectivity. The country is increasingly positioning itself as a preferred destination for Indian companies seeking regional expansion into Gulf and MENA markets.

Invest Qatar highlighted that the country was ranked first globally for general infrastructure in the Global Innovation Index 2025 and second worldwide for mobile internet speed in the Internet Speed Index 2025. It also noted that Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport provide connectivity to more than 160 international destinations, supporting global trade and business operations.

The agency further stated that Qatar’s Special Economic Zones offer a range of incentives for international investors, including 100 per cent foreign ownership, zero income tax, zero customs duties and unrestricted repatriation of profits within a legal framework based on English common law, making the country an attractive destination for companies seeking to establish regional operations.
