India’s top 300 business families have accumulated an average of Rs 4,076 crore in wealth every day over the past three years, bringing their total collective valuation to Rs 138 lakh crore, according to findings from the 2026 Barclays Private Clients Hurun India Most Valuable Family Businesses List.

The third edition of the Hurun India list details the significant expansion of India’s family-run corporate sector. Since 2024, the collective wealth of these top 300 families expanded by approximately Rs 30 lakh crore. In economic scale, if these 300 families represented a single country, their cumulative net worth would place them as the 18th-largest economy globally.
The Mukesh Ambani family retained the top ranking for the third consecutive year among multi-generational family enterprises. They were followed in the rankings by the Kumar Mangalam Birla family in second place, the Jindal family in third, and the Bajaj and Mahindra families in fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Separately, the report assessed first-generation entrepreneurs. Gautam Adani led this category with a net worth of Rs 19.6 lakh crore, followed by Sunil Bharti Mittal of Bharti Airtel at Rs 12.1 lakh crore, Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries at Rs 4.55 lakh crore, the Poonawalla family of Serum Institute of India at Rs 2.98 lakh crore, and the Damani family of Avenue Supermarts at Rs 2.86 lakh crore.
