India now has 1 billion broadband users, data costs Rs 8 per GB, says Scindia
India has expanded its broadband subscriber base from about 60 million to 1 billion in a decade, Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said.
Scindia said India now offers among the world’s cheapest mobile data, with 1 GB costing around Rs 8.
“Every drop in cost, every increase in usage, has expanded that canvas in which every single Indian can connect, can create, and can innovate,” he said.
Scindia added that India had achieved in a decade what, he said, other nations would have taken much longer to accomplish.
