Deteriorating law and order, farmers’ grievances, unemployment, corruption, poor healthcare services and drug abuse are among other issues. The Congress leaders cornered the BJP on the government’s completion of two years of its third term in Haryana.
Haryana Congress In-charge Sanjay Dutt said the government has to be held accountable on issues of employment, inflation, farmers’ problems and public welfare. “What happened to the promises? Where is the development, and when will the youth, farmers, women and ordinary citizens get relief?” he said.
Mr. Dutt added that the Congress Party will not allow the people’s voice to be silenced. “We will intensify our struggle for Haryana’s rights, the protection of democracy and accountability from the BJP government. In the second year of the BJP’s third term, Haryana is in total distress. BJP must give an account of their two years to the People of Haryana,” he said.
In Sirsa, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Rao Narender Singh said that instead of merely making claims about its achievements, the government must present a factual account of its election promises before the people.
“The BJP government had completed two years of its third term, but people across the State continued to struggle with crime, unemployment, farmers’ problems, corruption and the poor State of public services. During the Assembly elections, the BJP had made major promises to every section of society. The government must now explain how many promises have been fulfilled.”
In Chandigarh, Kumari Selja said the BJP had promised to provide women ₹2,100 every month. The government should clarify how many women were currently receiving the amount, how many were eligible in total and when the remaining eligible women would start receiving the benefit. Similarly, the government had announced free medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh for every family. It should disclose how many families had actually received treatment coverage and how many patients had benefited.
Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda said in Rohtak that young people in Haryana deserved employment, farmers deserved fair prices for their crops, and ordinary citizens deserved a safe environment.
