The winners were recognised for their storytelling and use of Edits, Instagram’s video-editing app, to create their submissions. The festival invited creators to turn unpolished videos from their camera rolls into edited content, encouraging them to experiment with different storytelling techniques and editing features.

Submissions opened in August, giving participants 45 days to create and submit their work. The festival’s official selection showcased a range of approaches to storytelling, while the top three entries stood out for their creativity, restraint and editing skills. The winners were selected by jury members Ahsaas Channa, Dolly Singh, Nikhil Taneja and Rajeev Masand.

Speaking about the initiative, Ankit Rihal, Head of Global Partnerships, Meta, India, said, “Enabling creators with the right tools, platforms and opportunities is central to what we do. The festival opened up new creative possibilities, encouraging creators to experiment with features they hadn’t used before and tell stories in fresh ways. We’re thankful to our jury members and to Farah Khan for the invaluable perspective she shared on her storytelling journey.”

Farah Khan on content creation and storytelling

Farah Khan attended the festival as a special guest and spoke about her approach to filmmaking and creating content for digital platforms. Having worked on feature films for theatrical audiences as well as short-form videos for Instagram Reels, the filmmaker discussed how she approaches the two formats.

Explaining her approach to social media, Farha said she prefers to keep her content spontaneous rather than plan every detail. She also credited Gen Z with influencing her outlook towards creating and sharing videos. She stated, “People assume there’s a big plan behind it, but I don’t overthink what I post. Gen Z has inspired me — they’re so nonchalant about it, no second-guessing. Be it a clip from my show, a random chat or a bit of mischief on the spot, everything is spontaneous for me. I think relatability and realness, with a bit of humor, are what audiences actually respond to on Instagram.”

The filmmaker’s comments highlighted the role of authenticity and humour in connecting with audiences on social media. The festival brought together creators and industry professionals to recognise emerging talent and encourage experimentation with digital storytelling tools.
