Family Full House: Rohit Sharma says parenting taught him to approach teammates differently!
Cricketer Rohit Sharma recently opened up about the lessons he has learnt from his two children and how their different personalities have influenced the way he approaches situations, including his role as a captain. Appearing on Family Full House with Rohit Sharma, the former India captain spoke about how his seven-year-old daughter and two-year-old son have different personalities and behaviours. According to Rohit, observing their innocence has taught him to approach people differently.
“Mere dono bachche alag-alag character hain, dono ka bartav alag hai kyunki umar alag hai. Ek 7 saal ki hai, ek 2 saal ka hoga. Toh unse mujhe jo seekhne ko milta hai, woh un bachchon ke andar jo bholaapan hota hai na, innocence. Kyunki kabhi-kabhi ye innocence mujhe apne ground pe bhi leke jaana padta hai. Jab main captaincy karta hoon,” Rohit said.
Rohit Sharma on communicating with teammates
Rohit went on to explain how the lesson sometimes comes into play when he communicates with teammates on the field. He gave the example of guiding a player through a particular situation and said that people may need to be approached differently depending on how they respond.
“Toh Kuldeep Yadav, Arey bhai, ye ball daalni hai aapko, aapko aise perform karna hai. Main chahta hoon ki aap ground mein aaiye. Main ek example de raha hoon, par logon ke saath aisa bartav karna padta hai, toh I think ye cheez apne bachchon se mujhe seekhne ko mili hai,” he added.
Rohit’s comments highlight how experiences outside cricket can also shape his approach to leadership. Rather than focusing only on the technical aspects of the game, he said his interactions with his children have taught him about patience, communication and understanding different personalities.
