Election Commission row LIVE: EC faces fresh credibility crisis amid new allegations against CEC

Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan on Friday (September 25, 2026) said the revelations about the Election Commission row were “extremely serious,” alleging that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has made the Commission “the fiefdom of one person” while ignoring repeated objections from the other two Election Commissioners.

Mr. Bhushan alleged that Mr. Kumar had centralised the Commission’s entire IT system so that all decisions on electoral rolls, including additions and deletions, are now taken centrally in Delhi. “This is such a serious matter that Gyanesh Kumar should not merely be removed from office; he should also be prosecuted,” he said. -PTI
