Ebenezer: Paramount unveils character posters of Johnny Depp and others as it reimagines Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol as a gothic horror
Paramount Pictures has unveiled character posters of the ensemble cast of Ebenezer, an upcoming gothic horror reimagining of Charles Dickens’ timeless novella A Christmas Carol, starring Johnny Depp in the titular role. Scheduled to arrive in Indian cinemas on November 20, 2026, the film presents a darker interpretation of the familiar Christmas story, with supernatural horror and psychological terror at the centre of its narrative.
In the film, Depp plays Ebenezer Scrooge, a wealthy, bitter and misanthropic London businessman whose life takes an unsettling turn on Christmas Eve. His past, present and future come back to haunt him through a series of supernatural encounters with restless spirits, setting him on a journey that will ultimately determine his fate. Moving away from a conventional retelling of Dickens’ morality tale, the film promises a gothic approach to the celebrated literary classic.
