The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jana Sena Party (JSP) are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the victory of their candidates in the fray for the Tirupati Municipal Corporation (TMC) in the upcoming civic elections.

Of the 66 corporators belonging to the ruling alliance–TDP, BJP, JSP–for the 66 divisions, Jana Sena has fielded 22 candidates and the BJP five.

Most of the JSP candidates are fresh faces or political novices. While their lack of popularity is a setback, the party is relying on the absence of a negative track record among its candidates.

Similarly, the BJP candidates are its district president Samanchi Srinivas (21st division), T.D. Varaprasad (26th) , M. Karunakar (44th), G. Prudhvi Reddy (52nd) and B. Parthasarathy (62nd).

Both parties are promising safety, stability, and continuity. “We will strive to bring every possible scheme announced by the Union government within reach of the citizens of Tirupati,” said BJP district president Samanchi Srinivas.

While the Jana Sena is facing trouble from the rebels, the party hopes to overcome the problem. “We are adopting the carrot and stick policy to control the rebel candidates. We hope to tide over the situation with ease,” said constituency in-charge K. Kiran Rayal.

Meanwhile, Jana Sena MLA Arani Srinivasulu is touring as many divisions in the temple city as possible along with the councillor candidates seeking votes.
