Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday (November 5, 2026) convened a meeting of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders at his official residence (Lok Sevak Awas) to review the performance in the recently concluded Bihar Legislative Council polls held in eight seats.
Out of eight seats, NDA won three, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged two seats, whereas Janata Dal (United) won one. Both BJP and JD(U) had contested four seats each.

Whereas Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) won two seats and Prashan Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) also bagged one seat making its entry into the Council and rest two seats won by Independent candidates.
All the top leaders of the Bihar NDA were present in the meeting, including JD(U) State President Umesh Singh Kushwaha, both Deputy Chief Minister Bijendra Yadav and Vijay Kumar Choudhary, BJP State President Sanjay Saraogi and others.
In the results declared last week, Independent candidate Bansdihar Brajwasi defeated JD(U)’s Abhishek Jha from Tirhut Graduates’ seat, while another independent candidate Rahul Raj defeated JD(U)’s Anand Pushkar from Saran Teachers’ seat.

Both independent candidates—who won by defeating the JD(U) later joined the BJP. However, when the controversy started over their “joining”, they said that they extended their support to the BJP. This has caused resentment among JD(U) leaders.
Sources said that in the meeting, JD(U) levelled charges against the alliance partner for failing to cooperate and also tried to sabotage their candidate.
However, after the NDA meeting, Mr. Saraogi briefed the media and said that the NDA meeting was held to discuss the plan for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vaishali on November 21, a day after the NDA government led by Mr. Choudhary will complete one year.
Earlier in the day, JD(U) National Working President Sanjay Jha also called a review meeting in which all the candidates who lost the election were called to speak about their grievances. A source said that it was decided that strict action would be taken against leaders found to be involved in anti-party activities.

“Candidates who contested the election have been asked to submit written complaints regarding any lack of cooperation from BJP leaders and party workers, “a JD(U) leader said.
The review meeting also addressed the organisation’s role, the level of cooperation provided, and its shortcomings during the election. It is expected that further action will be taken based on the complaints.
Prashant Kishor, on the other hand, issued a statement over the internal strife within the JD(U), asserting that Nitish Kumar was the party’s true strength.
Mr. Kishor said that now there is neither a leader, nor any leadership, nor any policy left within the JD(U).
