Bengaluru auto driver booked after brawl with two women

The HSR Layout police have detained an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly beating up two women passengers following a row over ride booking and cancellation.

The incident occurred on Monday (September 28, 2026) afternoon in HSR Layout’s Sector 3 and a video of the brawl, recorded by a passerby, subsequently went viral on social media.

According to the police, the dispute began over the booking and cancellation of the auto ride. An argument then reportedly broke out between the driver and the women over the fare, which escalated into a physical confrontation.

The accused, identified as Chetan, a Bengaluru resident, was taken into custody by the HSR Layout police on Tuesday (September 29, 2026).

An FIR was registered after the women approached the police with a complaint and the auto driver was identified during the inquiry. The police later confirmed that Chetan had been taken into custody.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the altercation and verify the sequence of events captured in the video.
