Avengers: Doomsday to release in India before US on December 17; Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans share Diwali wishes
Marvel Studios has announced a special Diwali surprise for Indian audiences, with Avengers: Doomsday set to release in India a day before its US release. The much-anticipated superhero film will arrive in Indian cinemas on December 17, 2026, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Adding to the excitement, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans have shared a special Diwali message for fans in India.
In an exclusive video message, the Hollywood stars, who play Doctor Doom and Steve Rogers respectively, extended their festive wishes while reflecting on the significance of Diwali. The announcement comes with 50 days to go before the film’s theatrical release, giving Indian audiences an opportunity to watch the next major Marvel Cinematic Universe instalment ahead of viewers in the US.
In the video, Downey Jr. and Evans said, “Namaste India! What we love about Diwali is it marks the closing of one chapter and beginning of another…that’s something we know a lot about, except instead of moving from dark to light, I think it might be going in the other direction…Happy Diwali and we will see you in Avengers: Doomsday …You Bet!”

The early India release adds to the anticipation surrounding the film, which is expected to bring together characters from different corners of the Marvel universe. According to the film’s official description, heroes from three distinct universes will find themselves on a collision course as they face an existential threat unlike anything they have encountered before.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito and Jonathan Schwartz. The film features an extensive ensemble cast, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Sebastian Stan, Tom Hiddleston, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Hayley Atwell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Wyatt Russell, David Harbour, Letitia Wright and several other returning Marvel actors.
The film also stars Ebon Moss-Bachrach, James Marsden, Joseph Quinn, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Alex Livinalli, Mabel Cadena and Tenoch Huerta Mejia.
Avengers: Doomsday will release in Indian theatres on December 17, 2026, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film will also be presented in Marvel Studios’ Infinity Vision and other premium formats.
