Saif Ali Khan reveals why he loves ghee, says he still hasn’t received his KBC prize: “I am expecting it”
The excitement of Saif Ali Khan over ghee has become an unexpected talking point on social media, with his reaction to a prize on Kaun Banega Crorepati continuing to entertain audiences. The actor has now opened up about his fondness for the ingredient, explaining how a light-hearted moment turned into a running joke. He has also revealed that he is still waiting to receive the ghee he was promised on the quiz show.
The moment originated during Saif’s appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati alongside Akshay Kumar. During the episode, Saif learnt that answering the tenth question correctly would unlock a two-year supply of Gowardhan Ghee. His enthusiastic response, “Wow, what? This is it; this is why I came”, quickly became a viral meme, with social media users joking about his excitement over the prize.
The joke resurfaced during a recent episode of Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, where Saif appeared alongside his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. The episode marked the couple’s first joint appearance on Kapil Sharma’s comedy show. During their conversation, the two spoke about married life, parenting and fitness. When Kapil asked about the secret behind their youthful appearance after 14 years of marriage, Saif playfully credited ghee, with Kareena adding that it is a regular part of their household.
Saif also used the opportunity to joke about not having received either his prize cheque or the promised supply of ghee. He has now elaborated on why the ingredient appeals to him, linking his interest to cooking as well as its traditional uses.
“It started off as a light joke, but it became such an amazing thing. We have so many good uses for ghee. I like cooking also, and I think cooking chicken in ghee is one of the most amazing things. My wife has many nutritional ideas. She even massages it on her feet, which is a really good Ayurveda, joke aside. It also helps you sleep very well. Ghee has got incredible benefits, and I am going to benefit.”
Despite the humour surrounding the episode, Saif made it clear that he has not forgotten the promised prize. Addressing the brand directly, he said, “To all the good people at Govardhan Ghee, I just want to tell you before things get really serious – I still haven’t received my ghee, and I am expecting it. So please, let’s honour our commitments!”
Whether the actor eventually receives his two-year supply remains to be seen, but the running gag has given audiences another memorable Saif Ali Khan moment.
