Jharkhand BJP launches four-day Statewide protest against alleged irregularities in recruitment exams

The Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Jharkhand on Tuesday (September 8, 2026) launched the four-day Statewide protest demanding the withdrawal of cases filed by the police against students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment exams.

BJP State President Aditya Sahu, the Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi and former Chief Minister Raghubar Das took part in the protest and gherao of the Deputy Commissioner (DCs) and Superintendent of Police (SPs) offices in the five districts, including the state capital Ranchi on the first day of the agitation.

Mr. Sahu, along with BJP workers, protested and gheraoed the Ranchi Deputy Commissioner’s office. During the protest, they demanded action in alleged irregularities in the recruitment examination conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The BJP leaders also demanded the arrest of those responsible for the malpractices, along with a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the withdrawal of cases filed against students.

Along with BJP workers, students, youth, and locals also participated in the protest, which began at the District School ground in Ranchi. Raising their voices in support of the students, the BJP leaders demanded transparency and accountability in the examination system and justice for the youth’s future.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Sahu alleged that the Hemant Soren government is perpetrating injustice against students and playing with their futures. He asserted that the protest by Jharkhand’s students is no longer confined to the state but has become a national movement. He accused the government of attempting to stifle the voices of innocent students by filing false FIRs to suppress the protest.

He further alleged that workers from the ruling party are attacking the protesting students and the government is trying to suppress the democratic movement.

“While “job racketeers “are roaming freely, the government is merely doing an eye-wash through arresting small fish” (minor offenders) by CID,’ Mr. Sahu said.

Mr. Sahu added that justice for the students is impossible without a CBI investigation. He accused the state government of turning recruitment bodies into sources of profit.

Mr. Marandi protested and gheraoed the DC office in Dumka whereas Mr. Das was in Hazaribagh and former Chief Minister Madhu Koda led the protest in Jamshedpur and Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth made his presence in Garhwa district.

Mr. Marandi alleged that false FIRs have been filed against students and, in the fight for students’ rights and justice, BJP stands firmly with them with full strength.

Mr. Das echoed the same, alleging that fake cases against students were filed at the behest of Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi.

“Students were chased and beaten, girls were misbehaved, we demand CBI investigation in the entire matter. Such massive corruption cannot happen without government collusion. Small fish are being caught, and a farce of a CID investigation is being staged to protect the crocodile. A CBI investigation into this matter is essential, “Mr. Das said.

Mr. Koda pointed out that until a CBI investigation takes place and the cases registered against the students are unconditionally withdrawn, the BJP will continue this fight. He added that the government’s batons, bullets, and threats will not break the students’ morale.

Former State President Deepak Prakash, Ranchi MLA CP Singh, Hatia MLA Naveen Jaiswal, and Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho were also present during the protest march, and they too jointly attacked the state government.
