Amitabh Bachchan Explains Family Connection With Saif Ali Khan on KBC
During a recent broadcast of the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), host Amitabh Bachchan revealed an intricate family link connecting him to actor Saif Ali Khan. The revelation occurred while Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar were appearing on the show as special guests to promote their upcoming crime thriller, Haiwaan. The unexpected lineage explanation left both visiting actors visibly surprised before turning into a lighthearted exchange on the set.
What Happened
While interacting with the guests, Amitabh Bachchan brought up their personal ties, remarking to Saif Ali Khan that many individuals are unaware that the two are related. Saif expressed surprise at the statement, as did Akshay Kumar. Amitabh Bachchan then walked the audience and guests through the exact family tree that connects them.
The veteran host stated that Nikhil Nanda, the son of Raj Kapoor’s daughter Ritu Kapoor, is married to his daughter, Shweta Bachchan. The bridge to Saif Ali Khan comes via his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. Kareena is the daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita, with Randhir Kapoor also being a son of Raj Kapoor. Because Kareena Kapoor Khan and Nikhil Nanda are first cousins, Saif’s marriage establishes a familial relationship between the Kapoor, Nanda, and Bachchan families.
Following the clarification, Amitabh Bachchan jokingly asked how he should address Kareena and what she should call him in return. Saif Ali Khan humorously responded by saying, “Thank god that’s not a question,” referring to the quiz format on the game screen, which drew laughter from both Bachchan and Kumar.
