On Instagram, Vidyut reshared a meme that featured his look from Madharaasi, with the caption: “Bollywood failed to use this man’s potential.” On Twitter, a fan from the West praised Vidyut’s casting as Dhalsim in Street Fighter, saying he looked “way too handsome” for the role. An Indian fan responded, “Only if the Indian film industry knew its own true potential, but instead they are pumping out mid movies year after year.” Vidyut shared both these posts on his Instagram Stories, along with others praising his performances and his entry into Hollywood. The actor’s response sparked conversation among fans about the limited roles he’s received in mainstream Hindi cinema, despite his strong screen presence and martial arts skills.

Meanwhile, Street Fighter will mark Vidyut Jammwal’s first Hollywood film. He will portray Dhalsim, the mystical yogi character from the popular video game franchise known for his fire-based abilities. The movie is being directed by Kitao Sakurai and features an ensemble cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Callina Liang, Roman Reigns, Orville Peck, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and David Dastmalchian. As Vidyut prepares to take on international projects, fans remain hopeful that his global success will lead to more meaningful roles back home in Indian cinema.
