Upa Lokayukta continues surprise visit to govt establishments in Raichur district

Upa Lokayukta Justice B. Veerappa visited various government departments, public places and many institutions on the second day of his scheduled tour of Raichur district in Karnataka on August 29.

Mr. Veerappa visited the water purification centre at Chicksugur village and inspected the water being supplied to Raichur city.

He ordered filing a suo moto case against the officials concerned after seeing improper disposal of waste at the Solid Waste Resource Recycling Management Unit located near Yaklaspur village.

Later, he heard grievances of the people at Basaveshwar Convention Hall in the University of Agriculture Sciences (UAS) campus. He accepted 320 applications. Of them, he made enquiries about 100 applications, and handed over the rest for disposal.

While responding to the grievances of the people, Mr. Veerappa said that he won’t spare corrupt officers and will follow the Constitution, law and rules. 

The Upa Lokayukta had visited 16 government offices, including hostels, mahanagara palike office, Assistant Commissioner’s office, Sub-Registrar’s office, tahsildar’s office, APMC, Central Bus Stand, Raichur Institute of Medical Science ( RIMS), and Nirmiti Kendra, on August 28.

Officials failed to give proper responses to his queries.

At one stage, he expressed anguish over officials not implementing schemes, lack of cleanliness in public places and hospitals, not providing quality food in hostels, and failing to deliver a pro-people administration.
