Mirai Mumbai press meet: Karan Johar hails Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara: “Woh superstars nahin the; ab superstars ban gaye hain”
Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, director Karthik Gattamneni, producer T G Vishwa Prasad and actor Teja Sajja attended the press meet of their film Mirai in Mumbai. A journalist asked Karan Johar as to what helps the film work, its subject or star factor.

Karan Johar explained, “We have seen the work of Teja in Hanuman (2024). His performance was such that audience in India and outside the country have lapped it up. Inki pehchaan ab duur duur tak ja chuki hai.”
He further said, “There are many superstars in our country. Teja is a massive superstar. But I always feel that the film is bigger than the actor, director and producer. Sabse aage kahaani hoti hai. It’s the story that connects with the audience.”
Karan Johar then gave the example of newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s film, Saiyaara, “Recently, two newcomers gave the biggest hit in Hindi this year in the form of Saiyaara. Woh superstars nahin the; ab superstars ban gaye hain. The opening of that film made it clear that film sabse aage hai. A week later, we saw how audiences gave huge box office number to Mahavatar Narsimha.”
He ended his answer by saying, “We all love our stars. We respect them as they work very hard. So it’s a mix of both. The stardom also comes to play and the film also matters. Mirai is a package of both.”
Mirai releases in cinemas on September 12.
