Hong Kong vs Bangladesh Highlights & Result – Match 3

Bangladesh defeated Hong Kong by seven wickets in the Asia Cup 2025 on September 11 at Abu Dhabi to kick start their campaign in the marquee T20 tournament. Skipper Litton Das won the toss and opted to bowl first, a decision that paid early dividends. With this loss, Hong Kong have now been eliminated from the race for the Super Fours.

Bangladesh struck quickly, dismissing Anshuman Rath and Babar Hayat to put Hong Kong on the back foot. Zeeshan Ali provided some resistance with 30 off 34 balls, while Nizakat Khan (42 off 40) and captain Yasim Murtaza (28 off 19) added a 40-plus run partnership, helping Hong Kong set a target of 144. Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Rishad Hossain picked up two wickets each.

Chasing 144, Bangladesh faced early trouble, losing both openers cheaply. However, Litton (59 off 39), including six fours and a six, and Towhid Hridoy (35*) steadied the innings with a 95-run partnership for the third wicket, guiding Bangladesh to a comfortable seven-wicket victory.

Key moments from HK vs BAN, Match 3 of Asia Cup 2025

1. Tanzim’s double blow

Tanzim Hasan Sakib played a pivotal role in steering the game in Bangladesh’s favour against Hong Kong. After conceding a six to Babar Hayat, he immediately bounced back on the very next ball to bowl him out, rattling the stumps. In the third over of his spell, Sakib also dismissed the set batter Zeeshan Ali, courtesy of a brilliant catch by Mustafizur Rahman. He finished with impressive figures of 2/21 in four overs, including a maiden.

2. Murtaza and Nizakat’s calm partnership

Hong Kong skipper Yasim Murtaza and Nizakat Khan stitched together a valuable fourth-wicket partnership, adding 46 runs off 34 balls. Murtaza scored 28 off 19 balls, while Nizakat contributed 42 off 40, helping the team post a competitive total. This crucial stand between the two also saved their side in recovering from a collapse. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, as the other batters failed to contribute much from their ends.

3. Skipper Das leads the chase

Bangladesh skipper Litton Das led the team to victory in their Asia Cup opener against Hong Kong, scoring a quick 59 off 39 balls. His innings not only anchored the chase but also saw him break the record for the most sixes by a Bangladeshi in T20Is, hitting 78 sixes to surpass Mahmudullah’s previous record of 77. Unsurprisingly, the Bangla Tigers captain was also the Player of the Match for his vital fifty in the chase.
