Traversing new reins is Director Timo Tjahjanto, an Indonesian filmmaker, bringing in what’s known as the “New Indonesian Extreme” style of filmmaking. Known for The Night Comes for Us and The Shadow Strays, Tjahjanto, alongside fellow director Kimo Stamboel, has also released astonishing fare under the moniker The Mo Brothers. In the words of Bob Odenkirk, Nobody 2 brings in a lot more action and blood, and is equipped with an old-school, simple, sturdy style of filmmaking.

“A lot of directors don’t want to do a sequel because someone else established the tone of that series,” Odenkirk noted. Nobody 2 is Tjahjanto’s first English-language film and his first studio film. The producers held his new perspective and striking vision in high regard. “But to Timo’s great credit, he made Nobody 2 a Timo Tjahjanto film. The imagery, lenses, and lighting will sweep you away,” Odenkirk described.

“We thought of making it playful, summary and family-oriented,” Tjahjanto emphasised the tone of the film. He wanted to tap into the elements that made this film different from the first. While the previous film was set during the winter and was dark and moody, this one presents a sun-drenched vacation aesthetic. “You see action set pieces that tread the line between grim and playful,” Tjahjanto continued.

Nobody 2 will keep you on the edge of your seat. Watch it unfold in Indian cinemas on August 22, 2025!
