BAN vs NED 2025, 1st T20I Review: Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das seal comfortable victory for Bangladesh
Bangladesh took a 1-0 lead by winning the first T20I of the three-match T20I series against Netherlands by a convincing margin of eight wickets at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30.
The decision to field first eventually turned out in Bangladesh’s favour. Although Netherlands lost only one wicket in the powerplay, they scored only 34 runs. Max O’Dowd (23 off 15) succumbed to a soft dismissal off the bowling of Taskin Ahmed before Saif Hassan’s double-wicket first over put Bangladesh in the ascendancy. Kyle Klein (9 off 12) was Taskin’s third wicket in his third over.
Mustafizur Rahman bowled an excellent subsequent over, conceding only two runs while Taskin ended his spell with figures of 4/28, clinching his fourth wicket in his fourth over as Netherlands could crawl to only 136/8 after being put in.
Bangladesh’s chase was off to a quick start but Aryan Dutt had the last laugh as he dismissed Parvez Hossain Emon (15 off nine) after the latter had accounted for 14 runs in the opening over . A couple of majestic strokes from skipper Litton Das against Dutt meant that Bangladesh raced to 57 by the end of the first six overs. Netherlands struggled for breakthroughs but Tim Pringle picked up one in his first over as Tanzid Hasan (29 off 24) hit a juicy full-toss straight to the fielder patrolling the fence.
Litton brought up his 13th T20I fifty in the 11th over while Saif, who was playing his first T20I after October 2023, did the bulk of the scoring to close out the chase. He finished things off by running a couple and striking two consecutive sixes off Vikramjit Singh’s to seal an emphatic triumph.
The two teams will face off in the second encounter of the three-match series on September 1 at the same venue.
