Award presented to playback singer Chithra

Playback singer K.S. Chithra was honoured with inspirational woman award at Sakthi Masala’s SuyaSakthi Virudhugal-Homepreneur Awards 2025.

After receiving the award, she said: “I could not have achieved all of this without the support of my husband and family.”

Premalatha Vijayakanth, DMDK general secretary, also received the award from Sakthi Masala founder P.C. Duraisamy and director Shanthi Duraisamy. Referring to her husband, actor and politician Vijayakanth, she said Captain had always shown great respect for women, and had treated her as an equal since their marriage.

“I was a sports player; have competed in javelin and discus throw. The experience in the sports field is helping me in the political field,” she said.
