Maya slams Trump’s tariff move | Lucknow News
Lucknow: BSP national president Mayawati on Thursday said that the people of the country are considering US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose a massive tariff of 50% on India to be prima facie “treacherous” and a step meant to weaken the country. To deal with it, she said that everyone will have to “show full maturity and rise above political selfishness, narrow-mindedness, differences, and animosity, etc, and work with full alertness under a long-term strategy, and in a good atmosphere of peace and law and order in the country.”Though the central govt, in its restrained statement, has termed this attempt by the US of imposing a massive tariff of 50% on India, just like the BRICS country Brazil, as “unfair, unjust and unwise”, it will be better, and in the interest of the people and the country, if the relevant subject is discussed in the current Parliament session for serious reflection on this big challenge faced by the country,” she said.“But how will this be possible if the central and state govts mostly remain entangled in internal narrow issues?”, said Mayawati.BSP always had its politics centred around “sarvajan hitaay, sarvajan sukhaay”, in accordance with the humanitarian Constitution of the country, she said, adding that the political conflict and tussle, going on continuously due to mutual distrust between the central and state govts, must now end for the wider public and national interest.
