SRH CEO Kavya Maran appointed as member of Telangana sports governance body| CricTracker

Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran has secured a place amongst the 14 members of the Telangana Sports Policy. This board is a part of the component of the Telangana Sports Policy in the domain of sports development.

Telangana’s Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced the same at the first-ever Telangana Sports Conclave in Hyderabad. There are various objectives associated with the policy, such as creating more opportunities in sports, building better facilities, and helping athletes grow from the grassroots level to the international stage.

The policy would be helpful for athletes from Telangana to win medals at the global level and even at the Olympics in the time to come. A Board of Governors has also been formed to supervise the usage of the Telangana Sports Development Fund. 

Several legendary sportspersons like Kapil Dev (World Cup-winning captain), Abhinav Bindra (Olympic gold medalist), Pullela Gopichand (badminton coach), Bhaichung Bhutia (former Indian football star), and Sanjiv Goenka (Indian billionaire) are also a part of the board. 

Who is Kavya Maran?

Daughter of the head of the Sun Group Kalanithi Maran, Kavya is one of the youngest members on this panel. She is often spotted supporting SRH from the stands during the Indian Premier League (ipl). She hails from a well-known family lineage.

Murasoli Maran, her grandfather, was an Indian politician and leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party. Her uncle Dayanidhi Murasoli Maran is a four-time elected Member of Parliament to Lok Sabha from the Chennai Central constituency. He is also a former Union Minister.

When it comes to the business of Indian sports, Kavya is considered as the one of the most influential women around. Her father Kalanithi Maran is among India’s richest businessmen. His net worth is estimated to be around INR 25,000 crore.
