Two accused in Diya Krishna embezzlement case surrenders at Crime Branch office
Two former employees of BJP leader G. Krishnakumar’s daughter Diya Krishna’s jewellery outlet surrendered before the Crime Branch on Friday.
The accused, Vineetha and Radhakumari, turned up at the Crime Branch office at Jawahar Nagar in the city, following a Kerala High Court directive after rejecting their anticipatory bail plea. Another accused, Divya, remains absconding, official sources said.
The trio have been accused of misappropriating funds to the tune of ₹69 lakh at Ms. Krishna’s store by purportedly diverting customer payments to their personal accounts. They are suspected to have replaced the QR code kept at the store with copies of their personal accounts.
The gang, which had also earlier made a futile bid to secure anticipatory bail from the District Court, accused Mr. Krishnakumar and his daughter of abducting and harassing them. However, the City Police found no evidence that supported their allegations.
