Actress Jiya Shankar has addressed the speculation surrounding her relationship with fiancé Kaaran Dhanak, requesting people to respect her privacy amid rumours of an alleged breakup. The Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestant took to social media to clarify that assumptions about her personal life had gone beyond what she had shared publicly. However, she stopped short of confirming or denying reports that the engagement had been called off.
In a statement shared on her social media account, Jiya wrote, “I’d like to clarify something. Recent assumptions about my personal life have gone far beyond what I’ve actually shared. Please don’t speculate about or spread rumours regarding my relationship. Some things are private, and I’d appreciate everyone respecting that.”
Her statement comes after online discussions about a possible rift between the actress and Kaaran gathered momentum. Social media users had reportedly noticed that Jiya was no longer following Kaaran on Instagram, prompting questions about the status of their relationship. The speculation intensified after the actress reshared several cryptic posts and videos touching upon heartbreak, emotional resilience and difficult experiences.
Among the messages that caught the attention of followers were, “Two things I know for sure: prayers work, and tables eventually turn” and “Some nights I don’t want healing. I want the universe to admit that what happened was cruel.” These posts led to further discussions among fans, with many attempting to connect them to the rumours surrounding the couple. Jiya has now asked people not to draw conclusions about her personal life based on assumptions.
The speculation comes around three months after Jiya and Kaaran announced their engagement in August 2026. The actress had shared photographs from an intimate sunset proposal, in which Kaaran was seen getting down on one knee with a solitaire diamond ring. The announcement had received considerable attention from her followers.
While Jiya has now issued a statement asking for privacy, she has not disclosed any further details about the relationship. Kaaran Dhanak, meanwhile, has not made a public statement on the ongoing speculation so far. For now, the actress’s message makes it clear that she does not wish to discuss the matter publicly.
