Vettuvam: Pa. Ranjith directorial starring Arya locks Pongal 2027 worldwide release; new poster unveiled
Pa. Ranjith’s upcoming action-drama Vettuvam, starring Arya, is set to arrive in cinemas worldwide during Pongal 2027. The makers have announced the film’s theatrical release window alongside the unveiling of a new poster, offering audiences another glimpse into the world of the pan-Indian project.
Since its announcement, Vettuvam has drawn attention for its scale and the distinctive setting envisioned by Ranjith. The team had earlier introduced the film’s universe through a video titled ‘The World of Vettuvam’. The introductory video featured voiceovers by Pankaj Tripathi in Hindi, Pa. Ranjith in Tamil, Rana Daggubati in Telugu, Kiccha Sudeep in Kannada and Soubin Shahir in Malayalam, reflecting the film’s planned reach across multiple language markets.
The story is set against the backdrop of conflicts from the past that continue to shape the present and threaten the future. At its centre are large-scale turf wars driven by the struggle for land dominance. The film also incorporates traditional martial arts and the ancient sport of Mallakhamba, which the makers say will be presented through an action-oriented cinematic approach. The principal cast underwent intensive training to prepare for the physically demanding sequences.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Arya, alongside Sobhita Dhulipala and Kalaiyarasan, among other performers. Its music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, whose score is expected to contribute to the atmosphere of the film’s action-driven narrative.
Written and directed by Pa. Ranjith, Vettuvam marks his return to the big screen after films such as Kabali, Kaala, Sarpatta Parambarai and Thangalaan. The filmmaker has explored a range of social and cultural themes through his previous work, and the upcoming project places land ownership and territorial conflicts at the centre of its narrative.
The film is produced by S. Sai Devanand, S. Sai Venkateswaran and Pa. Ranjith under the banners of Learn and Teach Production and Neelam Productions. Vettuvam is planned as a pan-Indian theatrical release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, with the makers now confirming a worldwide release during the Pongal 2027 festive period.
