Rashmika Mandanna addresses online criticism of her relationship with Vijay Deverakonda; says, “We chose US”
Rashmika Mandanna has responded to the online criticism surrounding her relationship with Vijay Deverakonda, addressing the opinions and unsolicited advice the couple has received following their recent interview. In a detailed social media post, the actor spoke about their understanding of love, their decision to build a life together, and why she believes their relationship should not be judged by public opinion.

Taking to Instagram, Rashmika shared her perspective on the ongoing discussions and explained that the reaction to their interview had gone beyond people expressing their opinions. She wrote, “My lovely people of the internet, To all those who deeply love, and to those who are permanently bitter. My lil’ 2 cents on this whole issue concerning me and Vijju. I generally don’t address these things because everyone has a right to their opinions. Sometimes, I even enjoy reading them and gaining a different perspective. But the current frenzy over our interview feels less like people having opinions and more like an angry mob looking for someone to vent at. Somewhere along the way, the whole point got lost. Maybe it didn’t fit your lens. Maybe some of you simply don’t want to see it. I’m writing this because I want to protect the people who believe in love, and I hope everyone gets to find their own version of it.”
Addressing the discussion around their decision to marry, Rashmika clarified that their conversation was never about the number of times something was discussed or an entire year. Instead, she explained that Vijay wanted them to take the time to understand each other and consider whether they were ready to move forward together. She stated, “And we did. We chose each other.”

The actor acknowledged that while she was certain about what she wanted, Vijay preferred to think through the practical aspects of their future before making a decision. According to her, their differences complemented each other rather than affecting their relationship. She also explained that marriage, for them, was not about a grand proposal, getting down on one knee or exchanging rings, but about building a life together.
Rashmika further expressed her feelings for Vijay, making it clear that she sees no reason to hide her affection for him. She wrote, “And yes, I am OBSESSED with my man. When did that become a bad thing?”
Explaining what their relationship means to her, she described Vijay as her lifelong companion, friend and the person with whom she wants to share both ordinary and extraordinary moments. She added that she would choose to marry him repeatedly, emphasising that their commitment goes beyond a single proposal or a particular number of times.
The actor also pointed out that both she and Vijay have built their lives through their own choices and hard work. Defending their right to decide their future, she wrote, “We have both built our lives on our own terms, with our own choices and our own hard work. We are smart, capable adults, blessed with the freedom and privilege to choose how we want to live and whom we want to share our lives with. And we chose US. We will keep choosing each other, again and again, until the end.”
Rashmika also addressed those who have expressed concern about her relationship through social media posts and reels. Thanking them for their concern, she said that they had not been present during the difficult phases of her life, while Vijay had stood by her. She added that she is currently happy and content, pointing to the joy she has experienced since getting married, as well as in her films and performances.
Describing the support she receives from Vijay, Rashmika referred to moments when she has been unwell, needed medical attention or experienced anxiety. She emphasised that he has been there for her during such times and asked people not to worry about either of them.
The actor also criticised the spread of misleading edits and unverified narratives online, saying that some people appeared more willing to believe internet speculation than her own account of her life.
Towards the end of her post, Rashmika drew a distinction between feminism and online bullying, particularly when it involves her family. She wrote, “Bitch about me all you want. I can take it. But talking about my family without knowing them? That’s not feminism. That’s bullying dressed up as feminism.”
She added that feminism was about having the freedom to make personal choices and take charge of one’s life, rather than putting others down. Rashmika also addressed some of her Kannadiga followers, acknowledging their continued interest in her after a decade.
Concluding her message, the actor expressed her wishes for people to find love, happiness and fulfilment in their own lives, regardless of whether their idea of love matched hers.
