Criticising the TVK for taking part in the INDIA bloc’s protest against the recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran on Thursday asked whether TVK founder and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has dared to be against the Constitution of India.

Rejecting observations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi against the SIR, Mr. Nagenthran charged that it was a “historic blunder” on the part of Mr. Vijay to oppose the SIR by joining hands with Mr. Gandhi. He went on to point out that some former MPs from Kerala, including some Congress leaders have welcomed the SIR.

“Is the TVK accepting the observations of Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, who has said that those who came to power in the elections that were conducted after the SIR are ‘illegal occupants’? Will Mr. Joseph Vijay accept that ‘I am an illegal CM’ and come forward to quitting his post?” Mr. Nagenthran asked.
