Aequs signs long-term aerospace deals with Safran

Bengaluru: Aequs has signed long-term supply agreements with French aerospace major Safran for critical components used in Airbus and Boeing aircraft programmes, expanding a relationship spanning more than a decade and extending it to two additional Safran entities. The agreements cover machining of superalloy parts and the machining, coating and assembly of landing gear components for the Airbus A320, A330 and A350, and Boeing 787 programmes. A significant portion of the work will be undertaken at Aequs’ upcoming Engine Components Ecosystem (AECE) in Hosur in Tamil Nadu. The agreements build on Aequs’ existing relationship with Safran Landing Systems and extend the collaboration to Safran Aerosystems and Safran Electronics & Defense. Aequs now has relationships with six Safran entities, the company said. The company will use its integrated manufacturing capabilities across forging, precision machining, special processes, surface treatment and assembly to manufacture the components. Its Belagavi Aerospace Cluster will continue to serve as a manufacturing base for global aerospace supply chains, with the Hosur facility expanding its capacity for medium and large engine components.“These agreements reflect what Aequs was built for: long-horizon partnerships anchored in capability, reliability, and scale,” said Aravind Melligeri, executive chairman and CEO of Aequs. He said the components were among the more demanding flight-critical products to industrialise, and that the awards reflected the trust built with customers and the capabilities developed across its manufacturing ecosystems. The announcement follows an agreement signed by Aequs and Safran Landing Systems in July 2026 to supply fully assembled wheels for the Airbus A320 family. That contract, extending through 2042, marked Aequs’ first serial production agreement spanning more than 15 years. The wheels will be manufactured in India, from locally sourced aluminium to final assembly and testing.
