Binny’s stunning catch seals India Champions’ WCL 2026 win

Stuart Binny produced one of the standout moments of the World Championship of Legends 2026 season opener, completing a stunning diving catch to dismiss Fawad Ahmed and seal India Champions’ victory over Australia Champions in Match 1 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 3, 2026.

At the start of that over, Australia Champions were 150 for 9 after 16 overs, needing India Champions to take one final wicket to close out the match. Piyush Chawla was the bowler, and a good-length delivery drew a mistimed shot from Fawad Ahmed. Binny flung himself to his right and held on to a low, diving catch, removing Ahmed and completing the dismissal that ended the Australian innings. Australia Champions were bowled out for 150 in 16.2 overs.

India Champions had posted 196 for 7 in their 20 overs after Australia Champions elected to bowl at the toss. Captain Yuvraj Singh anchored the innings with 71 off 44 balls, while Yusuf Pathan (37 off 20) and Rishi Dhawan (35* off 12) also made crucial batting contributions to the total. Yuvraj’s knock includes five fours and six maximums.

In the chase, D’Arcy Short top-scored for Australia Champions with 65 runs, and Joe Burns contributed 45. Despite those efforts, the Australian side could not sustain the required run rate and were dismissed for 150, falling 46 runs short of the target.
