‘Varuna Yagam’ performed seeking copious rains in State

‘Varuna Yagam’, ‘Aruna Parayanam’ and ‘Surya Yantra Puja’ marked the sixth day proceedings of the nine-day ‘Bharatha Vishwaguru Sankalpa Siddhi Mahayagam’, which is currently under way at Siddhartha educational group’s Puttur campus in Tirupati district, on Sunday.

Siddhartha group chairman K. Ashok Raju, who is also BJP State vice-president, said the ‘mahayagam’ was being conducted to pray for the health and longevity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and make India emerge as a knowledge super power, ‘Vishwaguru’.

“In the wake of the heat wave and the arid conditions prevailing due to the El Nino impact across the State, the ‘Varuna Yagam’, aimed at propitiating the Rain God, is expected to bring copious rainfall and abundant crops,” Mr. Raju said.

‘Kalyanotsavam’ was performed to the deities of Lord Srinivasa and His consorts in the evening. Satyavedu MLA Koneti Adimoolam, former Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayanaswamy, and Elite Hospital chairman Koduru Balasubramanyam were among the hundreds of devotees who attended.
