‘Power House’ is Chiyaan Vikram’s next with Anand Shankar; title teaser out

Power House is the title of Tamil star Vikram’s upcoming film with director Anand Shankar, the makers announced on Vinayaka Chaturthi, Monday, September 14, with a title announcement teaser. The film, which was previously called Chiyaan 63, will release in 2027.

The title teaser introduces Vikram as the man who runs Nalla Thambi Catering Service with his family, which includes his sister (played by Riya Shibu) and mother (Urvashi). After overseeing the preparations for a wedding, he steps into a dark passageway at the back of the house. In a classic Vikram-esque moment, we realise that in a storage room at the back, he has tied up a man to a chair while another is hung upside down from the ceiling. When the latter grunts and struggles upon seeing Vikram, the hero calms him down and says, “I have just started cooking, haven’t I? I promise to send you back after a full meals. 100% guarantee.”

The teaser, like the previous teasers of Vikram’s films, doesn’t give out any details about the plot. Interestingly, ‘Power House’ is a phrase that’s been popular in Tamil pop-culture since the release of Rajinikanth’s 2025 film, Coolie. In that film, the phrase was a codeword meant to unleash the beast within the protagonist. It remains unknown what the phrase has to do with the story of Chiyaan 63.

The cast of Power House also features MS Bhaskar, Shammy Thilakan, VTV Ganesh, and Samyuktha Hegde. With music scored by Santhosh Narayanan, the film has cinematography by RD Rajasekar and editing by Raymond Derrick Crasta. Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan produce the film under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films.

Notably, this is Vikram’s second collaboration with director Anand Shankar after Iru Mugan (2016). Apart from this, Vikram also has a film with Bodi Rajkumar in the pipeline. Vikram was also set to work with Madonne Ashwin of Mandela and Maaveran and Prem Kumar of 96 and Meiyazhagan fame; however, reports state that both the films have been shelved.
