Tenders invited for 369 EV charging stations works in Telangana; charging tariff fixed at ₹13 per unit

Pre-bid meetings pertaining to establishment/operation, maintenance, upgradation and commercial management of 369 public EV charging stations in Telangana were held on Monday. 

Setting up or maintaining the infrastructure is crucial as the State ranks fourth in the country in terms of electricity consumption at EV charging stations, and the number of electric vehicles has been on the rise.

₹13 p.u. plus GST

Out of the 369 charging stations, 200 are in Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations limits, and the remaining 169 in the erstwhile districts of Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Adilabad. The tariff for the charging has been fixed at ₹13 per unit, plus GST. The tariff for customers will remain applicable throughout the contract period, as per a press note. 

The process is part of Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation’s (TG REDCO) initiative inviting tenders from private Charge Point Operators (CPOs) for the establishment/operation and the other activities. In and around Hyderabad, where the EV charging stations were developed by TG REDCO, the selected CPOs would be responsible for the operation, maintenance, upgradation and commercial management, with the contract period being 10 years. Provisions were made to ensure a minimum 95% uptime of the chargers in the urban limits.

At the 169 public charging stations, which are under the TGNPDCL jurisdiction, in the five erstwhile districts, the CPOs will be responsible for survey, design, supply, civil works, installation, testing and commissioning, besides operation and maintenance for a period of 10 years. Eligible bidders will also be provided subsidy, subject to the applicable terms and conditions, under the PM E-DRIVE scheme.

TG REDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Faruqui, said that the State enjoys considerable strategic geographical importance. Several national highways and major transportation corridors pass through the State, resulting in significant inter-state travel and freight movement.
