Seven killed in two separate road accidents in Kolar and Chickballapur

Seven persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Kolar and Chickballapur districts on Sunday, with four members of a family among those killed.

In the first accident, four persons were killed and three others were injured after an SUV reportedly crashed into a road divider near Doddakari in KGF taluk. The deceased have been identified as Sharadamma, 70, Dikshit, 25, Devendra Kumar, 41, and Jishnu, 13, all reportedly from Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru.

According to reports, the family had travelled to Tirupati and was returning to Bengaluru when the accident occurred. The car allegedly hit the divider with considerable force, killing four occupants on the spot. The injured — Vikas, Neetu, and Aadvik — were shifted to the Bangarpet government hospital. One of them is reportedly critical.

Three killed

In another accident reported near Kothanur Gate in Chickballapur district’s Sidlaghatta taluk, three women were killed after a van collided with a mini goods vehicle.

The deceased have been identified as Roopa, 25, Rathnamma, 45, and Munichinnamma, 48, all residents of Mallikarjunapura village.

The women, who were farm labourers, were reportedly travelling for work when the accident occurred. The impact left several others travelling in the vehicle injured. Around 12 people were reportedly travelling in the vehicle, and several sustained minor to serious injuries. The van driver suffered a fractured arm.
