Asian Games 2026: Hotel Accommodation Assured for Cricket Teams in Aichi-Nagoya
Organisers of the upcoming Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Games have settled accommodation concerns for participating cricket squads by confirming that teams will be housed in hotels rather than alternative lodging options.
What Happened
The Aichi–Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to take place from September 19 to October 4, 2026, will feature cricket as an official part of the sporting schedule. Matches will be staged at the Korogi Sports Park situated in Nisshin, just outside central Nagoya. To resolve lingering questions regarding player housing, Japan Cricket Association (JCA) Chief Executive Officer Naoki Alex Miyaji stated that cricket squads will receive hotel accommodations. This decision follows ongoing consultations between the JCA, the Asian Games organising committee, and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
Key Highlights
- Hotel Stays Confirmed: CEO Naoki Alex Miyaji confirmed participating cricket teams will be housed in hotels, contrasting with several other sports where athletes will be placed in alternative lodgings such as cruise ships or container hotels.
- Venue Details: The tournament’s cricket events are scheduled at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, outside central Nagoya.
- Pitch and Ground Quality: Miyaji expressed confidence that the field and pitch will be among the best prepared for cricket in Asian Games history, even with temporary setups and timeline constraints.
- Joint Organisation: The cricket tournament is being coordinated jointly by the Asian Games organising committee and the Asian Cricket Council.
- India’s Schedule and Squad: The Indian men’s cricket team will open its campaign in a quarterfinal match on September 28, 2026.
Why This Matters
Securing hotel accommodation addresses logistical uncertainties ahead of the continental multi-sport event. By providing hotel rooms rather than container-style facilities or cruise ships, organisers aim to offer a more comfortable environment for players and match officials during the tournament.
