Kiren Rijiju meets Serbian President Vucic, reaffirms strong India-Serbia ties

India’s Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Tuesday (September 1, 2026) met Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and reaffirmed the strong friendship and growing partnership between New Delhi and Belgrade.

Mr. Rijiju, who is also the Minority Affairs Minister, met Vucic on the sidelines of the 65th anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement at the Palace of Serbia in Belgrade.

“Had a warm & meaningful interaction, reaffirming the strong friendship & growing partnership between India & Serbia, rooted in mutual respect & shared interests,” Mr. Rijiju said in a post on X.

“Attended the 65th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement at the Palace of Serbia, Belgrade & addressed the gathering,” he said in another post.

In his remarks, the Minister highlighted India’s founding role in the movement and reiterated New Delhi’s commitment to peace, sovereignty, dialogue and cooperation among nations.

Mr. Rijiju said these principles continued to remain relevant in today’s world.

India was among the founding members of the Non-Aligned Movement, whose first summit was held in Belgrade in 1961.
